My Next Obsession...

Want to know what I am buying with my next mileage check?

Isn't she a beauty?

I have been wanting to learn how to play for years.

The song "Flames" by VAST actually inspired me.

I have never had the guts to try and learn until now. But I'm determined.

If I haven't ever told you, learning to play an instrument for me is next to impossible. My brother has tried to teach me to play the guitar numerous times. The combination of him being impatient and me being frustrated would end up being a huge mess. Come to think of it, I am surprised that he didn't break a few guitars over my back a time or two...

But because I think that this is the most beautiful sound in the world, I am setting a goal for myself. I want to be able to play at least ONE SONG on the violin by March. I'm not sure if I can do it, but at least pouring all of my energy into something that I have wanted for so long, can keep me busy for a while. And 6 months...? That is a pretty realistic goal ... right?

I'll keep you posted. Either I'll turn into a magnificent violinist, or a complete disaster who can't read music and who owns a beautiful violin.
And I'll be happy either way.

  1. That's a beautiful song. Good luck learning the violin. I played for 7 years in junior high and high school, but I probably couldn't play a thing now. I'd recommend getting a beginner's book. In six months, you'll still just be playing simple tunes. But at least it's a start. Best wishes!

  2. Good luck. I use to play the sax and my wife played the cello. Now the only thing we play is Elijah's toy xylophone. Did I spell that right? I do love the violin though.

  3. I know, right? It is the most beautiful sound in the world... that and a child laughing and wind chimes. A toy xylophone? Not so much, Bruce.
