Days like these...

... they make me come alive.

Windows down.
Driving through beautiful countryside.
Great music on the radio.

And everything is blooming again. Looking at all of the trees growing their green leaves again reminds me of just how amazing God is. That He would surround us with constant reminders of death ... followed by life. And staring at all of this in awe, I can't help but wonder how anybody could truly believe that all of this was created by accident.

The smell of honeysuckle reminds me of my childhood. My brother and I used to take walks down our driveway in the summer time and pick the honeysuckle off of the bushes lining the road. It always tasted so sweet on my lips.

The sunshine on my face reminds me of trips. Trips to Florida, to Pittsburgh, to Galveston Beach, to St. Louis and Chicago. It also reminds me of baseball games. Sitting in the stands with a hot dog, surrounded by people you love, watching as your favorite player comes up to bat.

Oak trees remind me of the day that Adam proposed. They make me think of love and strength and new beginnings. I often think about how the roots run so deep, and the branches twist and intertwine to paint such a perfect picture.

Butterflies remind me of college. Of good times and great friends. I've always said that being a butterfly would have to be such a pleasant life. Everyone is always so excited to see you. I had a friend in college that had a butterfly collection on his wall. Maybe he still does. But every time I see a butterfly I can't help but think of how those relationships helped me grow.

The wind reminds me of God's grace and mercy. How he allows us to bend and sway in the breeze. It is something that we will never be able to see, and yet, we can always feel.

And green.

Green reminds me of how precious life is. How delicate it is. And how we, unlike those trees, only have one of them to live here on this earth. I hope and pray that I do something meaningful with the one I have been given.

"What can you ever really know of other people's souls - of their temptations, their opportunities, their struggles? One soul in the whole creation do you know: and it is the only one whose fate is placed in your hands."

-C.S. Lewis

I hope your day was just as beautiful.

  1. Memories are amazing.

And I am with you on your thoughts about coming into the spring. Where I'm from, unfortunately we're still in that faze where everything looks dead and brown, and depressing, but I am so excited for the day that everything starts to bloom. It gives me such an exuberant sense of joy, feeling things come to life, the way well, life has come to life through God for me.

    God bless!
